MORGAN THE CLYDESDALE PONY: THE MUSICAL created by Skip Martin, legendary former lead singer and trumpeter for KOOL AND THE GANG and the DAZZ BAND, Sandra Siler and John Paul Starling. Jon Paul Starling and Sandra Siler composed eight imaginative songs that brilliantly enhance the musical. Josh and Michelle King, seasoned theater veterans, added their expertise in assisting with the libretto, ensuring “musical” success!
MORGAN THE CLYDESDALE PONY is a story about a Clydesdale pony’s dream to win the Kentucky Derby! It is inspired by Skip’s own experience at the Kentucky Derby, an epic story about the dreams of a young Clydesdale pony hoping to race in the Derby. The musical promotes self-esteem, goal setting and never giving up on one’s dream.
The theme song, “You can be anything, anything, anything...you can be anything...if you BELIEVE…” will forever be in the hearts and minds of all who experience MORGAN THE CLYDESDALE PONY!

MEET THE MUSICAL DREAM TEAM
Skip Martin is a Grammy Award winning artist, songwriter, producer and author, best known for his tenure as a lead singer and trumpeter for two legendary groups, Kool & the Gang and The Dazz Band.
His achievements include MOBO Outstanding Achievement Award, Platinum & Gold Record recipient, R&B Song of the Year, six consecutive Top 100 albums, two Top 100 singles, to name a few.
His first children’s book, 'MORGAN THE CLYDESDALE PONY', inspired by Skip’s own experience at the Kentucky Derby, is an epic story about the dreams of a young Clydesdale pony hoping to race in the Derby. The book promotes self-esteem, goal setting and never giving up on one’s dream.
Sandra Siler is Skip's business partner and Manager for their Skip Into Literacy 501(c)3 & Gloryland Enterprises LLC, promoting music & literacy in schools. Ms. Siler holds a Master's Degree of Art in Piano Performance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and was Head of Piano Instruction at Kilgore College in the city of Kilgore, Texas, for twenty-five years. Sandra's former students are employed by prestigious universities throughout the nation. Her love for music, performance, people and collaborating with others makes her the perfect complement for Skip's endeavors.
Jon Paul Starling is the director of Choral Activities at Henderson Independent School District in Henderson, Texas. His choirs have sung in Carnegie Hall, in New York City. His vocal and piano students have won numerous awards and accolades at the state and national levels. Jon Paul is a gifted vocalist and pianist who is a frequent guest of symphonies, churches and service groups throughout the nation. He is the owner and lead instructor at the Starling Music Academy in Henderson, Texas.
Josh & Michelle King
Joshua and Michelle King are the proud band directors at Beckville Independent School District in Beckville, Texas. Their high school band has won sweepstakes and most recently was awarded most outstanding in the entire state of Texas! Josh and Michelle are avid members of the Henderson Civic Theater in Henderson, Texas, where they have held every position from acting to directing. The King's have adapted the book MORGAN THE CLYDESDALE PONY for theater production.
Preston Parker brilliantly orchestrated the musical MORGAN THE CLYDESDALE PONY. Preston is an assistant band director at Jacksonville Independent School District in Jacksonville, Texas. Preston is a published composer and his compositions have been performed by bands throughout the state. He leads Praise and Worship music at the First Baptist Church in Carlisle, Texas. Preston is also a five -star chef, having pioneered culinary programs in the East Texas Area.
